On Saturday, June 1, 2023, the team of climbers from Earth Expeditions conducted training as well as a final simulation for their climbing expedition to El Capitan Yosemite Wall. This simulation was carried out for 2 days on the big wall of Mount Parang, Purwakarta.

Farhan Helmy, the President of Pergerakan Difable dan Lansia Indonesia (DILANS) who is also the Chairman of Earth Expeditions met with the Minister of Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Pramono Anung last Wednesday, April 28 to provide an explanation about the Yosemite expedition which will be carried out in June-July 2023.

Meeting with Ms. Yenny Wahid was the moment for IBEX and DILANS to convey the importance of social inclusion, climate crisis and disability which will be carried on the Earth Expedition mission to Yosemite National Park, USA.
President of DILANS Indonesia, Farhan Helmy explained that this campaign is also to remind there are more than 1 billion people with disabilities in the world, and around 23 million of them are in Indonesia.
Farhan Helmy at the same time handed over a t-shirt with the words "NO ONE LEFT BEHIND" directly to Yenny Wahid.

A Raising Awareness on Climate Crisis, Disability and Social Inclusion

This expedition will be a campaign to get attention and awaken the global citizens about the importance of protecting the environment and climate change which will greatly affect people with disabilities.

Climate Crisis

The climate crisis is a critical situation that occurs as a result of climate change caused by global warming.
The climate crisis has also had a major impact on human life and the environment such as loss of natural habitats, decreased agricultural and fisheries productivity, and increased levels of air pollution which are harmful to human health.

Disability

Persons with disabilities are one of the groups most affected by the climate crisis. This is due to constraints in physical mobility and non-physical limitations that can complicate evacuation or access to resources and information needed in an emergency situation due to the climate crisis.
In addition, the climate crisis can also exacerbate the health conditions of persons with disabilities.

Social Inclusion

Social inclusion for persons with disabilities is an important concept and plays a key role in an inclusive society. This involves ensuring that all people, including those with various types of disabilities, can participate fully in social, economic, educational and cultural life including the response to the climate crisis.
